Colorado Rockies star, Carlos Gonzalez, reached the Major League 1,000 Career Hits milestone. With a double on his third turn at bat of the match against the Cincinnati Reds, the left hander hit to Center Field on a pitch from Cuban player Raisel Iglesias

CarGo became the third player from Zulia (Venezuela) to reach this milestone, after emblematic figures such as Victor Davalillo and Luis Aparicio, the only Venezuelan to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. With this achievement, CarGo adds up as the 30th Venezuelan to collect this amount of hits in the Majors.

“I couldn’t be happier with this season’s kickoff. Staying healthy and playing every day it’s what helps me achieve goals like these in the Major Leagues to keep making my fans proud” said Carlos Gonzalez before going back to Denver. “I try to not pay so much attention to the numbers, but my hits on the Major Leagues mean something very special to me”

During that team’s tour, Gonzalez connected his fourth home-run of the season, placing just 20 homeruns short of the 200 mark. “I feel great both physically and mentally, this year I haven’t struggled making the adjustments in the batter cage like in past years, where I used to start a little off until I got the correct timing.  I hope this is a year to remember.  A new Post-Season participation is what I wish the most, like every player. We all play to win”.
